• Exploration Geologist

Students will major in Geology. Studies include a 30 ECTS
Master’s thesis, 30 ECTS compulsory geology courses, and
25 ECTS free-choice geology courses. In addition, 30 ECTS
can be freely chosen. Mandatory Finnish language studies
(5 ECTS) for international students.
Are you a great fit for our programme?
An ideal candidate has an academic background
in geosciences, with a passion for sustainable
mining practices. Applicants are expected to have
sufficient background in geology (60 ECTS credits)
as well as basic skills in petrographic microscopy.
UNIVERSITY OF OULU
The candidate has an interest in environmental
management and innovation in the mining sector and is
motivated to engage with the industry through internships
and collaborative research projects, aiming to contribute
to the mining cycle from mineral exploration to closure.
