A bachelor’s in information
technology from a leading
AI institution
During the past decades, applications
of Computer Science and Engineering
have had a significant impact on our
daily lives. In the future computers
will not be used as separate devices
anymore. Instead, they will be embedded
in our living environments and offer us
rich sets of services through natural
and intuitive user interfaces.
Technology will be even more humancentered and user-oriented, which
requires innovative smart solutions
and the utilisation of Artificial
Intelligence. Graduates of Computer
Science and Engineering will play
a key role in this development.
The bachelor’s and master’s programme
in Computer Science and Engineering
is based on world-class research. It
provides a cross-section of cuttingedge research topics, and the latest
results achieved in the field.
The teaching faculty consists of
Finnish and international professionals
who represent the leading edge
in various research areas.
Core skills and competence
Bachelor’s studies in Computer Science
and Engineering provide a broad
knowledge of computer science, for
example in programming, hardware,
software, artificial intelligence, data
and data processing. The studies
begin with the basics and therefore
previous experience, for example in
programming, is not necessary.
All students will learn applications of
engineering mathematics, for example
matrix analysis, statistics and probability
theory. Students can tailor their degree to
meet their own interests and career plan.
Both theoretical and practical studies are
included in the curriculum in a balanced
way. You will get practical skills through
various exercise work and projects. You
will learn from industry experts and get the
chance to work on practical projects that
mimic real tech challenges. You can see
first-hand what it’s like to work in a truly
international industry through internships.
After graduation
A degree from the University of Oulu
is regarded highly, which is evidenced
by the continued and intense
recruiting interest from the industry
ie. corporations, small and mediumsized companies and startups.
